¹ And the second lot came forth to Simeon, even for the tribe of the children of Simeon according to their families: and their inheritance was within the inheritance of the children of Judah.² And they had in their inheritance Beersheba, and Sheba, and Moladah,³ And Hazarshual, and Balah, and Azem,⁴ And Eltolad, and Bethul, and Hormah,⁵ And Ziklag, and Bethmarcaboth, and Hazarsusah,⁶ And Bethlebaoth, and Sharuhen; thirteen cities and their villages:⁷ Ain, Remmon, and Ether, and Ashan; four cities and their villages:⁸ And all the villages that were round about these cities to Baalathbeer, Ramath of the south. This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Simeon according to their families.⁹ Out of the portion of the children of Judah was the inheritance of the children of Simeon: for the part of the children of Judah was too much for them: therefore the children of Simeon had their inheritance within the inheritance of them.¹⁰ And the third lot came up for the children of Zebulun according to their families: and the border of their inheritance was unto Sarid:¹¹ And their border went up toward the sea, and Maralah, and reached to Dabbasheth, and reached to the river that is before Jokneam;¹² And turned from Sarid eastward toward the sunrising unto the border of Chislothtabor, and then goeth out to Daberath, and goeth up to Japhia,¹³ And from thence passeth on along on the east to Gittahhepher, to Ittahkazin, and goeth out to Remmonmethoar to Neah;¹⁴ And the border compasseth it on the north side to Hannathon: and the outgoings thereof are in the valley of Jiphthahel:¹⁵ And Kattath, and Nahallal, and Shimron, and Idalah, and Bethlehem: twelve cities with their villages.¹⁶ This is the inheritance of the children of Zebulun according to their families, these cities with their villages.¹⁷ And the fourth lot came out to Issachar, for the children of Issachar according to their families.¹⁸ And their border was toward Jezreel, and Chesulloth, and Shunem,¹⁹ And Haphraim, and Shihon, and Anaharath,²⁰ And Rabbith, and Kishion, and Abez,²¹ And Remeth, and Engannim, and Enhaddah, and Bethpazzez;²² And the coast reacheth to Tabor, and Shahazimah, and Bethshemesh; and the outgoings of their border were at Jordan: sixteen cities with their villages.²³ This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Issachar according to their families, the cities and their villages.²⁴ And the fifth lot came out for the tribe of the children of Asher according to their families.²⁵ And their border was Helkath, and Hali, and Beten, and Achshaph,²⁶ And Alammelech, and Amad, and Misheal; and reacheth to Carmel westward, and to Shihorlibnath;²⁷ And turneth toward the sunrising to Bethdagon, and reacheth to Zebulun, and to the valley of Jiphthahel toward the north side of Bethemek, and Neiel, and goeth out to Cabul on the left hand,²⁸ And Hebron, and Rehob, and Hammon, and Kanah, even unto great Zidon;²⁹ And then the coast turneth to Ramah, and to the strong city Tyre; and the coast turneth to Hosah; and the outgoings thereof are at the sea from the coast to Achzib:³⁰ Ummah also, and Aphek, and Rehob: twenty and two cities with their villages.³¹ This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Asher according to their families, these cities with their villages.³² The sixth lot came out to the children of Naphtali, even for the children of Naphtali according to their families.³³ And their coast was from Heleph, from Allon to Zaanannim, and Adami, Nekeb, and Jabneel, unto Lakum; and the outgoings thereof were at Jordan:³⁴ And then the coast turneth westward to Aznothtabor, and goeth out from thence to Hukkok, and reacheth to Zebulun on the south side, and reacheth to Asher on the west side, and to Judah upon Jordan toward the sunrising.³⁵ And the fenced cities are Ziddim, Zer, and Hammath, Rakkath, and Chinnereth,³⁶ And Adamah, and Ramah, and Hazor,³⁷ And Kedesh, and Edrei, and Enhazor,³⁸ And Iron, and Migdalel, Horem, and Bethanath, and Bethshemesh; nineteen cities with their villages.³⁹ This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Naphtali according to their families, the cities and their villages.⁴⁰ And the seventh lot came out for the tribe of the children of Dan according to their families.⁴¹ And the coast of their inheritance was Zorah, and Eshtaol, and Irshemesh,⁴² And Shaalabbin, and Ajalon, and Jethlah,⁴³ And Elon, and Thimnathah, and Ekron,⁴⁴ And Eltekeh, and Gibbethon, and Baalath,⁴⁵ And Jehud, and Beneberak, and Gathrimmon,⁴⁶ And Mejarkon, and Rakkon, with the border before Japho.⁴⁷ And the coast of the children of Dan went out too little for them: therefore the children of Dan went up to fight against Leshem, and took it, and smote it with the edge of the sword, and possessed it, and dwelt therein, and called Leshem, Dan, after the name of Dan their father.⁴⁸ This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Dan according to their families, these cities with their villages.⁴⁹ When they had made an end of dividing the land for inheritance by their coasts, the children of Israel gave an inheritance to Joshua the son of Nun among them:⁵⁰ According to the word of the LORD they gave him the city which he asked, even Timnathserah in mount Ephraim: and he built the city, and dwelt therein.⁵¹ These are the inheritances, which Eleazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Nun, and the heads of the fathers of the tribes of the children of Israel, divided for an inheritance by lot in Shiloh before the LORD, at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. So they made an end of dividing the country.

¹ O Lord, thou art my God; I will exalt thee, I will praise thy name; for thou hast done wonderful things; thy counsels of old are faithfulness and truth.² For thou hast made of a city an heap; of a defenced city a ruin: a palace of strangers to be no city; it shall never be built.³ Therefore shall the strong people glorify thee, the city of the terrible nations shall fear thee.⁴ For thou hast been a strength to the poor, a strength to the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shadow from the heat, when the blast of the terrible ones is as a storm against the wall.⁵ Thou shalt bring down the noise of strangers, as the heat in a dry place; even the heat with the shadow of a cloud: the branch of the terrible ones shall be brought low.⁶ And in this mountain shall the LORD of hosts make unto all people a feast of fat things, a feast of wines on the lees, of fat things full of marrow, of wines on the lees well refined.⁷ And he will destroy in this mountain the face of the covering cast over all people, and the vail that is spread over all nations.⁸ He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the LORD hath spoken it.⁹ And it shall be said in that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us: this is the LORD; we have waited for him, we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation.¹⁰ For in this mountain shall the hand of the LORD rest, and Moab shall be trodden down under him, even as straw is trodden down for the dunghill.¹¹ And he shall spread forth his hands in the midst of them, as he that swimmeth spreadeth forth his hands to swim: and he shall bring down their pride together with the spoils of their hands.¹² And the fortress of the high fort of thy walls shall he bring down, lay low, and bring to the ground, even to the dust.

¹ Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens;² A minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not man.³ For every high priest is ordained to offer gifts and sacrifices: wherefore it is of necessity that this man have somewhat also to offer.⁴ For if he were on earth, he should not be a priest, seeing that there are priests that offer gifts according to the law:⁵ Who serve unto the example and shadow of heavenly things, as Moses was admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle: for, See, saith he, that thou make all things according to the pattern shewed to thee in the mount.⁶ But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.⁷ For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second.⁸ For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:⁹ Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord.¹⁰ For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:¹¹ And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.¹² For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.¹³ In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.

¹ Then verily the first covenant had also ordinances of divine service, and a worldly sanctuary.² For there was a tabernacle made; the first, wherein was the candlestick, and the table, and the shewbread; which is called the sanctuary.³ And after the second veil, the tabernacle which is called the Holiest of all;⁴ Which had the golden censer, and the ark of the covenant overlaid round about with gold, wherein was the golden pot that had manna, and Aaron's rod that budded, and the tables of the covenant;⁵ And over it the cherubims of glory shadowing the mercyseat; of which we cannot now speak particularly.⁶ Now when these things were thus ordained, the priests went always into the first tabernacle, accomplishing the service of God.⁷ But into the second went the high priest alone once every year, not without blood, which he offered for himself, and for the errors of the people:⁸ The Holy Ghost this signifying, that the way into the holiest of all was not yet made manifest, while as the first tabernacle was yet standing:⁹ Which was a figure for the time then present, in which were offered both gifts and sacrifices, that could not make him that did the service perfect, as pertaining to the conscience;¹⁰ Which stood only in meats and drinks, and divers washings, and carnal ordinances, imposed on them until the time of reformation.¹¹ But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building;¹² Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.¹³ For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh:¹⁴ How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?¹⁵ And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.¹⁶ For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator.¹⁷ For a testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth.¹⁸ Whereupon neither the first testament was dedicated without blood.¹⁹ For when Moses had spoken every precept to all the people according to the law, he took the blood of calves and of goats, with water, and scarlet wool, and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book, and all the people,²⁰ Saying, This is the blood of the testament which God hath enjoined unto you.²¹ Moreover he sprinkled with blood both the tabernacle, and all the vessels of the ministry.²² And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.²³ It was therefore necessary that the patterns of things in the heavens should be purified with these; but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these.²⁴ For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us:²⁵ Nor yet that he should offer himself often, as the high priest entereth into the holy place every year with blood of others;²⁶ For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.²⁷ And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:²⁸ So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.
